Influence of Top Management Attention on Strategic Planning in Commercial Banks in Kenya

Abstract
The study assessed the relationship between top management attention and strategic planning in commercial Banks in Kenya. The study employed a descriptive research design. The target population were managers from 42 commercial banks of Kenya. Three managers were selected from each banks to participate in the study giving a total of 126 study target population. Primary data were collected through the use of a questionnaire. Data collected were quantitative in nature. Quantitative data were analyzed using SPSS version 23 and further explained using descriptive statistics and percentages to enhance understanding thereafter presented in tables and graphs. Data collected were quantitative in nature. Quantitative data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. The collected data was analyzed using SPSS version 26 and further explained using descriptive statistics and percentages to enhance understanding thereafter presented in descriptive tables. The findings were presented using tables and figures. The linear regression model was used to test the relationship between variables. This aids in forecasting the strength of the relationship between dependent and independent variables. The study revealed positive and significant correlation between top management attention and strategic planning in the Commercial Banks in Kenya. The study therefore recommended that commercial banks in Kenya should improve their top management attention to environmental cues and use these to improve their decision making to positively impact their performance.
